Airport Pick-up
Lategan Safaris pick-up clients at the Bloemfontein Airport, a 1 hr’s flight from O.R. Tambo Airport in Johannesburg which will be your port of entry into South Africa.
It is important that you let Lategan Safaris have your travel itinerary as soon as it is made available. This will help with planning and ensure that we are well prepared for your arrival. Your airport pick-up will be planned from your travel itinerary.
A Lategan Safaris representative will be at the Bloemfontein Airport to meet and greet you on the date and time of arrival. We will help you receive your luggage and firearm from the local security officer. It is a 2 hr’s drive to Lategan Safaris base lodge.
Temporary Firearm Import Permits
Your port of entry into South Africa will be O.R. Tambo Airport (Johannesburg). This is where you will clear customs before your short internal flight to Bloemfontein.
Hunters bringing in firearms will obtain their temporary import permit at this point. (This is why you need the Customs 4457 form, SAP 520, and letter of invitation from your outfitter.)
We suggest that hunters prepare these documents before arrival in JHB. Alternatively to insure a trouble-free arrival we suggest that you make use of a meet & greet service who will for a fee, obtain your temporary import permit for you prior to your arrival.
We suggest PHASA for this service. A Phasa representative will meet you in the SA Police office at O.R. Tambo (Johannesburg) Airport with your permit on your arrival. Please go to pre-issued permits on the Phasa website for further information. www.phasa.co.za
